C. crane FM transmitter II

The C. crane FM transmitter II picks up a signal from an audio source such as an iPod, CD player or computer and sends it in DC, where it can be picked up by any FM radio within its range of up to 100 meters.
This simple description belies its versatility. I use it as a poor man's Sonos: I broadcast music and podcasts from my computer to any radio in the House. I am not bounded to the devices that I use to hear the broadcast; I use a few Boston Acoustics solo plate radios, but each radio work would, even a device the walkman type. Setup is harmless; to optimize only the radio to the correct frequency. Other people can watch movies without disturbing, other people in the room. Use only an FM radio, like in many iPods and earphones. Musicians should therefore for stage performance. And so on.
But there are other FM transmitter. This stands out in a couple of ways. It has excellent audio quality, as you can with FM. This is particularly evident in the bass frequencies. Your receiving radio or earphones are certainly the limiting factor for your sound.
You can each broadcast 88,3 frequency 107.7 MHz, so find a clear frequency for your site almost guaranteed are. ("Digital" in the name of nothing points to the digital display of the transmitting frequency, otherwise).
It has adjustable gain, so it will be to strengthen weak signals to the maximum, which can handle it (an LED indicator tells when you are overloaded it you). It runs Wall AA batteries or an own transformer.
She can be modified very easily (open through the housing and one small knob) significantly increase his power. You will find instructions on the Web. This is highly recommended; the only critical reviews are from people who were disappointed is out-of-the-box. Due to FCC regulations, which allows limiting the power in all such devices. The change will hurt these regulations obviously, but dramatically increase the range of the transmitter.
It is cheap. Really comparable transmitter costs a few hundred dollars. The version II is cheaper and has better audio quality than the original. And C. Crane has occasionally, returned for even less.
There is nothing basically wrong with this unit and there is nothing better for the price.
